FEDERATION OF STH. AUSTRALIA

The Pan-Arcadian Federation of South Australia comprises of four associations. They are:

Kolokotronis Association.

Gortynian Association.

Lebideon Association.

Palaiopyrgioton Association.

The youngest Federation, the Pan-Arcadian Federation of South Australia is also the smallest Federation of the three Federations.

Formed in January of 1991, the Federation of South Australia, has made some significant donations to the South Australian community and to the Arcadian Community of Australia and Greece.

The Federation of South Australia had the honor of hosting the Inaugural Australian Pan-Arcadian Convention. It was where serious decisions were made about the future of the Pan-Arcadian Federation of Australia and the drafting of the first constitution. It was followed with some celebrations and cultural events.

A significant donation by the Federation of South Australia was when a large amount of money was raised from various functions to purchase a special cardiac respiratory machine for the Pan-Arcadian Hospital in Arcadia, Greece.

The Arcadian community of Adelaide also donated a significant amount of money for the restoration of Kolokotronis's House in Libovisi, Arcadia. A large amount of books were donated to the Greek Departments in South Australian Universities. The books were from the Society of Arcadic Letters and Arts.

The South Australian Federation participated in the Arcadian Month Festivities in September of 1991.

It participates in the Greek National Day Celebrations held on the 25th of March every year.

The Federation is trying to make the youth aware of their rich Arcadian background by holding many cultural and traditional events, like dances, talks and taverna nights.

At the start of 2001, the Pan-Arcadian Federation of South Australia elected a new committee. The majority of the committee is made up of young people. For example the President is Ms Koula Kossiavelos, Vice-President Jim Tsagouris, Secretary Chris Katsoulas and the Treasurer John Kolovos.

The Presidency of the Pan-Arcadian Federation of Australia is currently held by the South Australian Federation. The Federation will hold the Presidency for two years.
